Multi-level Popups Issue
The 'Number of Questions to Ask' for multi-level popups have changed to 1
With the release of Quality Window Build 5.0.0.684 an issue has come to light that originated with a previous release of Quality Window.
| Symptom: |
When adding data in Quality Window a popup variable that used to ask more than one question is now asking only one question. |
Resolution: |
Using the latest version of QWSetup (5.0.0.83 or higher) check all popup variables that use mutil-level popups to make sure that the 'Number of Questions to Ask' is set properly based on the popups use for that variable. |
Creating Custom Reports in Quality Window
Using QW Data to Create Reports
There are two options to consider when creating reports using QW data. The first option is to
export the data into another program (such as Microsoft Excel), summarize the data, create a
custom template, and then merge the summarized data with the template. The problem with this
solution is that the work must be repeated each time a report is needed.
The process is time consuming.
The second solution is to automate the entire process. Quality Window has a very powerful
customization tool that supports scripting. Basically a small little computer program is
written to automate the data summarization and merging process. The benefits are obvious:
custom reports can be created at the click of a mouse button, whenever they are needed and in a
variety of formats.

Quality Window helps you to unlock the power of your data by giving you tools to collect, record and analyze information about your manufacturing process. Imagine how much more powerful your data would be if you could collect more information, more often and more accurately.
There is a solution: QWSchedule!
QWSchedule is a stand-alone utility that allows you to define and schedule tasks that include asking Quality Window to automatically collect data from a number of different sources. QWSchedule is fast, flexible and easy to use!
QWSchedule can run tasks that collect data on either a regular timed interval and/or event basis. An example of regular timed interval would be to collect data once an hour, or once a day, whereas an example of event based collection would be when a trigger value is detected, such as in the case of when a machine stops (downtime). QWSchedule works in the background, independent of regular QW 5 users.
The "data" can be any Microsoft DDE/OPC compliant information available anywhere on the network or directly wired to your computer. This can include data within other commercial databases, PLCs, Test Instruments, etc.
In the past, solutions used to automate data collection were complex, expensive, time consuming and inflexibleoften requiring specialized IT resources to create and manage the system on an ongoing basis. Even small applications would require the use of expensive, dedicated servers to collect data for their client applications.
Busitech has made a breakthrough in providing simple yet flexible tools to integrate and automate data collection. These tools are designed to provide the "rapid change capability" that you have come to expect using Quality Window. Users can create very flexible solutions in a timely fashion, without the need for specialized and expensive resources. In small applications, data collection can even be done directly within the workstationavoiding the cost and maintenance of dedicated servers.
Perhaps the best news is the fact that QWSchedule is included with the latest version of Quality Window at no additional cost!
Learn more about automating data collection with QWSchedule in a comprehensive article that has been posted in the Articles section of the website.
Validation Documentation Now Available
Detailed validation documentation for each maintenance release is now available. This comprehensive report outlines the testing protocol established by Busitech to ensure the software performs as intended. Please note that Quality Window 5 is highly configurable to the customer’s application as it allows the development of custom installation programs (e.g. with customer defined calculations).
